Why trauma, why now?

Life is short enough as it is, so why not try and enjoy as much of it as possible?

Imagine being able to look at ourselves in the mirror with unconditional pride and affection, with love, honesty, open-mindedness and compassion. I believe we can.

We’ve been conditioned to turn a blind eye to our own suffering, to ‘toughen up’, to ‘forget about it’, to ‘move on’. The easiest route (in theory) is to pretend it never happened. As humans we seek quick and simple solutions. The reality is that our bodies are highly intelligent and log intense and disturbing events. Therefore, quick fixes aren’t a solution as they only serve to prolong the suffering and deepen the wound. The only solution is to confront and soothe the disturbing emotions and memories head-on, allowing them to heal with time and support. It’s a marathon, not a sprint!

The first step is to understand and recognise what trauma is. However, this knowledge alone will not heal our wounds. I want to share the tools that helped me and also learn what has helped you. We are all unique beings with our own personal stories and therefore, there is a unique solution for everyone. By creating a like-minded and compassionate community, we can together generate a reservoir of coping mechanisms which may be more well-suited to our specific needs. Everyone deserves access to effective tools in order to live a happier and fulfilled life.

Over the course of the next few months, years, I will endeavour to build and grow a credible portfolio of tools to help soothe these wounds and help people embark on an educational and life changing journey where you can eventually take control of your emotions. Life, as we know, is filled with ups and down. Happiness is not a permanent state. However, being able to feel positive emotions like happiness, calmness, contentment and excitement more regularly is not just a luxury but can become a possibility. More importantly, when the lows hit, you will be able to cope and feel those emotions with less pain, anxiety and obscurity.

I look forward to building these portfolios and making substantial change. I welcome as much input and points of views as possible in order to be as accessible and relevant as possible. Together we are stronger.
